GLScrip: For Everything! An Overview

Great Lakes Scrip Center (Shorthand GLScrip)  is a flexible form of gift cards:
- Gift certificates and prepaid cards
- Use just like cash at many local stores and restaurants.   (100's retailers participate in the program)
- Planning a vacation? Disney, Carnival Cruise Lines, Avis, American Airlines have cards, as do several hotels.

How does it work?

- You buy the gift card /certificate through the Music Aides for a specific retailer. The cards cost the same amount you will spend at that retailer.  The retailer donates a percentage of cards value (Usually 2-4%) directly to the NPMA.
- The cards are specific to each retailer and can be used just like cash.
- We place an order every other week and distribute the cards at Hospitality Knight.

What’s the benefit?

The Music Aides are able to buy the cards at a discount.  The GLScrip retailer list shows the current discount being offered to NPMA for each gift card.  Of that discount, half is credited to the student and half is credited to NPMA to help the Music Aides fund the Marching and Indoor programs.  For example, if the GLScrip discount for a particular retailer is 4%, then 2% of the total goes to the student and 2% of the total goes to NPMA.

PLUS – you aren’t spending any more money than you would otherwise.   With cards available for many stores – you can use them for everyday expenses.   You can buy the cards ahead of time.   Why not buy a $100 card for Home Depot or Giant now?
