A fun but long day. The Band left by 5:20AM... parents about an hour later. It was cool, sunny and slightly breezy. We learned what it takes to run with the big dogs. We held our own and even increased our standing from afternoon preliminaries to finals at night. Personally In the finals, I was kept wondering were the judges stood on principles. Would they award Kiski #1 since they were the most creative with their "click" performance or go with West Johnston who are disciplined, play loud and march fast. The # 2 and #3 bands from 2007 were no shows for this year's competition King Philip and Norwalk? Several of the bands (like the Highlanders) were much smaller this year. All in all a great day. Towson University knows how to host a tournament and the Towson University Band really entertained. We beat Raritan at Yamaha they beat us here... stay tuned.
Tips: Skip the Mall Dinner run & hit the student union instead. Get back to the stadium early for PM performance since best seats go fast. Dress warmly, prepare for a ~20hr trip. -DWH

The band competed well. It was a long day for the band. Some minor mike problems at beginning of show. It started to drizzle during NPMK performance, then really poured. All the instruments got wet. Dartmouth marched well and fast , played loud, with snowflake visuals to boot. Hats off to a fine performance by them. Hope to see Dartmouth in 2009. Dartmouth did not play in Baltimore the next day.
